What is "Home"?
The dictionary defines the word home as
1. A place where one lives; a residence.
2. The physical structure within which one lives, such as a house or apartment.
3. A dwelling place together with the family or social unit that occupies it;
a household.
4 .An environment offering security and happiness. A valued place regarded as
a refuge or place of origin.
5. The place, such as a country or town, where one was born or has lived for
a long period.
6. The native habitat, as of a plant or animal.
7. The place where something is discovered, founded, developed, or promoted;
a source.
8. A headquarters; a home base.
I
really like number 4 which states that a home is an environment offering securtiy
and happiness a valued place regarded as a refuge or place of origin and number
7 which says home is the place where something is discovered, founded, developed,
or promoted; a source. As a Christian mother, I truly believe God has given
me a great responsibility to help provide a secure and happy environment for
my family. I believe all of our security comes from knowing God the father and
receiving the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. All things that make up
a home flow from this beginning. As a homeschooling mom, I appreciate and agree
with the fact that the home is the place where we learn and make new discoveries
about ourselves and the world in which we live. I pray our home will be a great
fountain, pure and sweet, full of the knowledge of God and his creation from
which our children can go forth and bring light to a darkened world.
It is my desire that our home be more than just a "stopping off place" between other events. Home should be more than just a place to sleep and occasionally throw down something to eat. My goal is for our family to be in harmony at least most of the time. One way I feel we can help this along is by doing things together. We eat our meals together as much as possible and have conversation. We attend events that members of our family participate in and encourage one another in our efforts.
