Once a Month Cooking Links

I discovered Once a Month cooking before the beginning of last school year in 2001. With our busy schedule, I decided cooking meals ahead and freezing them would give me the ability to give my family healthy and home cooked meals without making them wait until 9:00 pm every night to eat them. LOL! So, I gave it a try.
I was thrilled to find so much information on the internet about cooking in bulk and freezing ahead. I started slowly by finding a few recipes that my family really liked and simply cooking a double batch of those recipes when I made them. I have almost always made up a weekly menu for our family so I continued with that. After I found recipes that my family liked, entered them into my menu plan, and made a list of needed ingredients, I was on my way! I was really surprised that I didn't spend a fortune the first time I went to the grocery store to do my "once a month shopping". In truth, I found I had saved about $200 for the month. WOW!
I set aside two days to do my cooking. One day for cooking meats, chopping vegetables, and grating cheese ect. One day for assembling my dishes. I was super tired at the end but it was truly worth all the effort when after homeschooling and then teaching piano lessons, I was able to serve my family a good, healthy, and hot meal without too much extra energy. You can do it too! I hope you will check out a few of the websites I have listed and give Once a Month Cooking a try with your family.
